FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Open your browser's DevTools Network tab while you compress: there are zero requests carrying your files.
How do I compress an image to exactly 200 KB?
Switch to "Target size", type 200 KB and press Compress. We re-encode the image at several quality levels and keep the largest one that fits under your target, usually within 8 tries.
Why does PNG compression work differently from JPG?
PNG is lossless, so quality sliders do nothing. We reduce the colour palette instead (256 colours by default). If the result would be bigger than your original, we keep the original file untouched.
