FAQ

How do I calculate X percent of a number?

Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 200 = 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30.

How is percent change calculated?

Percent change = (new − old) ÷ |old| × 100. Going from 50 to 65 is (65 − 50) ÷ 50 × 100 = +30%.

What is the difference between percent change and percent difference?

Percent change compares a new value to an original value and has a direction. Percent difference compares two values symmetrically: |a − b| ÷ ((a + b) ÷ 2) × 100.
