FAQ
What time zone is the deadline in?
The local time of the hotel, venue or airline. “23:59 two days before departure” and “18:00, 48 hours before check-in, hotel local time” look similar and leave you with very different amounts of time — which is the single most common source of cancellation disputes. Pick a time zone once and this tool shows every deadline twice, in the property’s time and in yours, and writes the .ics start as an absolute UTC instant so any calendar app points at the same moment.
What exactly does “3 days before check-in” mean?
Until the deadline time on the calendar date three days earlier — not 72 hours before. When the confirmation gives no hour, that date’s 23:59 is the usual reading and the default here. Beware 00:00: it is the moment the day *begins*, so choosing it silently removes a whole day. In a region with daylight saving the date is counted first and the time attached afterwards, so the deadline never drifts by an hour.
Can I rely on the Korean government tiers?
Not automatically. The Consumer Dispute Resolution Standard (Fair Trade Commission notice 2024-32, in force 27 Dec 2024) is a recommendation used to settle disputes when nothing else was agreed; it is not law, and the operator’s own terms take precedence. The presets here are example defaults that fill the form quickly — for an accurate result, type in what your own booking confirmation says.
Does the 24-hour free-cancellation window apply to same-day bookings?
Not for the whole 24 hours. The 2024 amendment introduced free cancellation within 24 hours of booking a stay, but with a proviso: when that window overlaps the date you booked for, it ends at midnight of that date instead. Book today for tonight and the window has already closed. This tool applies that clamp automatically on “within N minutes of booking” rows. Platform rules are often shorter still — around 10 minutes for hotels and an hour for motels on the Korean booking apps.
My calendar shows the event but no reminder
Google Calendar can drop the alarms (VALARM) inside an .ics when it is imported into a calendar other than your primary one. To survive that, this tool also adds an all-day entry on each deadline date so the words stay visible on the grid; you can switch it off in the options. On iPhone Safari the file does not open directly — it lands in the Downloads list, so tap the download icon and then the file.
